Wow. That’s really sorry. If I was a parent I’d be royally hated. Whose in charge of the budget boondoggle there, anyhow? Heads oughta roll over that...


Most of the funds to operate Baltimore schools come from the state,
which has not been keeping up with costs for several years.


It is not a money problem. The state gave them $66 million 2 years ago
and the school system was so tied up with bureaucracy and incompetence
that they never actually contracted with the HVAC companies to fix
these systems. Now they have to give the money back because of a law
that says if you give you money, we expect you to spend it.

They are still spending $17,144 per student and they are claiming a
71% graduation rate but the B'more Sun says an alarming number of
those students are still functionally illiterate. It is not required
that you show any competency on tests to graduate if you are in the
"bridge" program and that is 37% of the graduates.
