Most of this is done on private property. Is that because airboats are considered a nuisance or destructive? It is pretty much both but they cite destruction of habitat. It is all part of limiting motorized vehicles in national parks. They started in Everglades Park and then expanded that to Big Cypress and the other smaller tracts most people never heard of. The last I heard that also expanded to picayune strand a state preserve. In some cases they just limit engine size but in the case of an air boat that is a distinction without a difference. There are no 9.9 HP air boats ;-) |
