The big thing for us locals (Maritimers) is the fact that we do have a lot of beautiful beaches but most of them are a bit cool for swimming. PEI's beaches and some on our north shore are a magnet for families with kids, seniors etc. I have fond memories of getting over there in my later teens as our family never owned an automobile so all we did growing up was walk to Point Pleasant Park to freeze in the crappy somewhat dirty water on the little man made Black Rock Beach in Halifax Harbour. |
