Lots of hunters here Might be "sporting" if the deer could be trained and armed to shoot back... I don't really have a dog in this fight. I don't hunt. We walked about 5 miles today in the Manistee national forest but we didn't see anyone shooting or really anything to shoot at. Yesterday we were near Cadillac in a game preserve near Mitchell SP and the red squirrels were pretty thick. I doubt the seasons are open here yet. They do have hunter classes running in a lot of places. Most of us don't hunt. But, I don't think those who do are 'bad' people for doing so. That's where the dog in the fight comes in. It's typical Krause, denigrating those who participate in an activity he doesn't enjoy. I agree. I looked in on a couple of these classes and these are not the Yahoos Harry would make them out to be and just finding a deer that will let you get close enough to shoot them here is going to be hard work. This is not the petting zoo we have around our cities. It is rough terrain and spooked animals. The "hiking trail" we were on was pretty much wild woods. My comments about "recreational hunting" have to do with those participating in it considering it a "sport," albeit a blood sport. If only the critters could shoot back... Gosh, I've never seen anyone here refer to hunting as a 'sport', except you. ..... Me either. But I think Harry likes catch and release "sport fishing". Where you reel the poor critter in, pull the hook, regardless how deep it set, and throw the thing back. But the poor fish is now either too wounded to live or too exhausted to survive. But that's OK, though Sport fishing. Yeah buddy! I gave up fishing years ago. When you got rid of your last boat. Or got caught in several lies about his fishing trips in the bay. |
