However, on the trip to Vietnam, on a civilian aircraft chartered by the military, the treatment was spectacular. Friendliest stewardesses I've ever seen. The only time I flew military was Jamaica to Gitmo. You are right, it was nasty. They treated me like a VIP (IBM contractor) and I got to fly in a bigger seat behind the cockpit but it was still pretty rough, It was one of those "Berlin air lift" type planes. (C54) |

(C54) I was in the Air Force, but the only military aircraft I flew on we're hopping rides a couple times. Every time the government sent me somewhere, it was either commercial or charter. I had a couple nice rides, and a couple rough rides. One on a C135, cargo 737. 14 people and luggage was only cargo. Deadhead back from SEA. 250 knot tail wind, average about 800 mph ground speed,. C121 logistics command VIP flight from Write-pat to Logan Utah. Even beer for sale. Very nice plane, mostly civilian engineers. |

Here I'm thinking C-124, C-130, C-7a, C-5 and probably a couple others I can't remember. None were comfortable. All had web seating. |
