We have a 20x20 "storage area" in the basement that is so filled with
stuff that will never be used that you literally cannot get into the
room. When I mention the word "dumpster," I get a dirty look.
I know a couple of guys that are pack-rats or hoarders but by far the
major offenders of keeping useless junk are women. It either has some
sentimental value that I can't fathom or it was a gift from someone ...
usually long deceased ... that they just can't come to grips to get rid
of.
My mom was one of those. When we traveled and bought her a gift, we new
she would admire it and not use it, so we always bought something we would
like to use later.
