That statement of yours is based upon absolute ignorance. Are you seriously going to say that PG and near in Montgomery county does not share or even exceed the problems in DC? Do I need to go get the crime reports? Perhaps you should look out the window when you drive through Most of Suburban Maryland is more than parts of PG and Monty County. Further there are many areas of PG that are rural or upscale and are very nice. We live in suburban Maryland and enjoy a relatively low crime rate. He's talking about the populated areas, Krause! Maybe if you work 2000- 0445. When I was working at 1801 K st NW, it took me 45 minutes to an hour, just to get to Clinton, just south of Andrews and that is far closer than Huntingtown. (working 0830-1745) It usually took 20 minutes or more, just to get to the Anacostia River. It is one of the main reasons why I passed on the instructor job. I did it for 3 months and I was done. |

It just shows what lengths commuters will go to so they don't have to live near DC. I can remember when "DC suburbs" were pretty much defined by the beltway. We moved "out in the country" when we went to Oxon Hill and my sister was so far away in Clinton that the only way you could get there was on a Greyhound. It was a while after I moved here that I started hearing that Chesapeake Beach was a "commute". There are plenty of commuter buses going to DC daily from at least as far away as the edges of St. Mary's County. I take one at least once a week from Calvert County, and my wife takes one every day. Usually takes 62 minutes in the AM and 70 minutes in the evening, for about $4.00 a ride. |
