Hey Wayne and Greg ...

I just checked the Southwest Florida Eagle cam. Say's it's cloudy and
37 degrees.

Hell, right now it's 35 degrees here and we are under a blizzard warning.

Better keep an eye on the weather down there :-)

Well, keep the snow there for at least another six or seven hours. My tee time is at 9:30.

Yeah, we've had lucked out with a mild winter up until now. Significant
snow forecast for today (blizzard warnings), and then more snow off and
on for the rest of the week. Next weekend we'll see temps dropping to
below zero overnight. Hate winter.

Some friends moved down to New Bern, NC. They absolutely love it. We may be heading south in a year
or two, and that's on the short list of places to look.

It's a great area for boating, lots of relatively protected water and
many fishing/cruising opportunities. There's quite a bit of sailboat
racing also if you're looking for a new activity. By my standards
it's too cold in the winter however.

In Florida it's easy to hire people to do yard care, don't know about
other places. For less than $100/mo our guys mow once a week, trim
shrubs once a month and do insecticides/fertilizer as needed. We also
have pool people who do a good job once a week at a reasonable price.
They call or EMAIL if there are any issues we need to know about. Of
course we also have good neighbors who know how to reach us, and a
security service. We leave for as much as 6 months with no issues at
all.

For mail we use a forwarding service (St Brendan's Isle) who do a
super job. Once a day we get an EMAIL from them with an envelope scan
of everything received. We can select each individual piece for
either discard, save, or open-and-scan-contents. If they open and
scan we get that the next day via EMAIL. Saved stuff accumulates
until we ask them to box it up and ship it somewhere that we'll be for
a while. Great service, reasonable price. A lot of RV people use it,
even more than boaters. They will even help you establish an official
Florida residence.

Thanks for the info Wayne. I appreciate the time and effort. That mail service seems like a pretty
good idea.
