Berettas don't seem to like me... Always been a Ruger fan... BUT, the GF
loves Berettas. Says they feel better in her hand.

Have to admit though, its a good looking piece.

There are or were several just like it on gunbroker for under $1000,
including all the accessories, though there are several hammer 9mms
around that probably would outshoot it for much less.

Too much. I like the gun, but I've got to save up for a computer. Got a grandson
graduating high school this year. They get a laptop as a graduation present, if
they've been accepted at a university. This one has an Apple, with all the bells and
whistles, on his Christmas list. That's not going to happen. I'll surprise him at his
graduation. Three neices, one nephew, and now a grandson. These damn computers are
keeping me in the poorhouse.

I would buy an off lease W/7 machine. Most of those "bells and

Geez, all the cheap skates aren't on hockey players! :)

And here, Nephew George, are four nicely used tires for that '71 Pinto I
got you last year, and a pair of slightly used high top sneakers that
still have plenty of bounce left in them, and a dozen condoms, used only
once, that I handwashed, dried, and rolled for you. Enjoy college.

He's going into Biomedical Engineering, so he's checked out, according to his dad, what he 'needs'. This year, in high school, he's taking third semester calculus along with 'Physics with Calculus'. Yeah, he's smart and busts his ass. He's having a rough time though. There are only 30 kids in the whole program, in Richmond, and almost all the rest are Asian. The Asian kids hang together, Korean clique and Japanese clique, and won't let a regular ol' white boy join their study groups.

Most of those "bells and
whistles" are just for bragging rights. If you ask a kid what kind of
car they need to get back and forth from school they will want a
Porsche or something.

Greg had the same first thought I did. I checked with his dad to see if the kid
really needed that much computing power, or if he was into some heavy gaming. The kid
plays no games on his computer!

He gets along with them, but when he asks about studying together they brush him off
with, 'Oh, we don't study as a group after school.' It's a very competitive school. I
saw the same thing when teaching eighth grade. The Asian kids stick together, by
country, especially the Koreans. They're great kids, study their asses off, and their
parents play a big role in their education. The big question is like, "Why is Jeong
getting only a B+ in Algebra this quarter?"

If he insists on a Mac that will add a 50 to 100% premium over the
cost of a good Windows machine. It seems to be sort of a cult thing.
I don't know about Apple but Microsoft gives spectacular student

That is true. Game machines are usually 3x what a regular person needs
for just about anything and if you are just "computing" (not doing
video mostly) the needs are very modest. You can do just about
anything you want with audio, using a P1 166. If you are only doing
bookkeeping, word processing and database work, that is still a lot
more machine than you really need.
I will say "Flash" has become very bloated. With Flash 10 you can
watch Netflix and the like with a 2gz P4 and a gig of RAM but if you
load 20, you need at least a 3g P4 or a dual core and 2G of RAM to see
the same content. I have both running side by side and there is no
difference I can see on a 60" TV between Flash 10 and 20.

It sounds like the scam Andy Grove and Bill Gates came up with that
Grove will make faster machines and Gates will puff up the software to
sell them.
