Default Is it finally time for companies to ban personal use of PCs?

Wow...you're channeling FlaJim, without a doubt the dumbest
asshole in
rec.boats. In the early 1990s, I happened to be helping a neighbor
in NE
Florida who was "digging" a well for water for his lawn. The digging
instrument, as it were, was basically a combination of garden
hose and
PVC pipe. He went down about 14' before he found water decent
enough
for his lawn. Our well was 12', and a fellow's down the street was
16'.
I know this because it was astonishing to me at the time that you
could
find water decent enough for a lawn at that shallow of a depth.
None of
the house in the area had basements.
I have never seen a basement in Florida. They tend to become indoor
pools.

Ground water in most places has so much iron in it, you will have
brown stains anywhere it hits. That is the main problem with using it
around the house.
The Water Management District still "owns" it.

I really thought that if I wanted a lawn I would use Paspalum. You
can
irrigate that with sea water and certainly any water we have in the
river here, even in the winter.
The up side is the salt water will kill virtually all of the weeds.
I am perfectly happy with a natural yard tho. Wildlife finds plenty
eat. In the summer the Bahia will take over and I have grass. In the
winter, it is other stuff.
If I can keep the feral cats down, we get quail, rabbits and doves
along with the other larger things that will kill a cat if they get
screwed with.

Homes on the ocean have underground garages. I wonder how they pull
that off?

Houses on stilts. Park under. Not underground.

I've seen them - they are underground. So are the parking garages at
the beach front condos and hotels.
Tell us more. Elevation, location etc.

It would be interesting to see what happens the first time the water
goes over the ramp into that hole in the ground.
Just because you can do something, doesn't mean it is a good idea.

I suppose we will have a law against it as soon as it fails.

They are everywhere by the water. They must have some serious pumps in
case of a tidal surge.
