I'm going to be going down the Ocoee for the first time in a couple
years and I was wondering if people had any recommendations for good companies to go through? I remember not liking USA Raft and getting a really bad guide through another...It'll be my fourth ride on the Ocoee but my mother's first so I want to make sure we get a good one. I've also been thinking of trying out those...what are they called, funyaks? If anyone has any experience with them, could you tell me if it would be a bad idea for people who aren't in uber-great shape? Any recommendations/warnings would be great. Thank you! -Coru |

I went down the Ocoee in a funyak a few years ago. I was probably
about 40 then. It was enough fun that I took up kayaking. My wife and kids were on a large raft, and I took our 11 year old and 9 year old daughters into the funyak for short portions of the trip. I do recall getting the kids back onto the raft before we hit the some of the later rapids. I'm pretty much in the same shape as most regular technology industry guys. I do athletic things at sales meetings when I'm not partying, or sometimes while I am partying. I am healthy, but certainly not 'uber-anything'. If you meet the qualifications specified by your outfitter to ride a funyak, you'll almost certainly have a great time. I sure did. Enjoy "Coru" wrote in message om... Try http://ocoeeadventurecenter.com/ , a really good company. On the NC
side of the river, about 2 miles before the put in, not too far from Copper Hill. The main guy ran the crew that hung and managed the gates for the Ocoee Olypmic games.
