Been watching snippets of Bernie and Hillary trying out their stump
speeches in Iowa while Trump addresses an audience in NH. Quite a contrast in their styles, even when they are all in agreement about some issue ... in this case the flaws in campaign financing. Bernie delivers his objections regarding PACs and corporate influences in campaign financing with great vigor. He's honest and passionate in his criticism of how the system works. He almost admits that he'll never become the POTUS but is using his candidacy to raise issues that need to be addressed. Addressing the same issue, Trump has an ironic and folksy delivery. He doesn't scream and shout. He acknowledges the problem, admits that he has participated in it and involves his audience in his comments by pointing at people and asking *them* questions. He has a very laid back, often humorous style. I can understand why he has become popular with frustrated voters tired of professional politicians. Hillary delivers the same message in that staged, loud and overbearing style with the heavy voice inflections of old school politicians. She shouts her message with arms and hands flaying away, not seemingly aware of the people in the room listening to her and then nodding to herself as if she just announced some kind of earth shattering news. Yuk. |
