The stump speeches
Been watching snippets of Bernie and Hillary trying out their stump
speeches in Iowa while Trump addresses an audience in NH. Quite a contrast in their styles, even when they are all in agreement about some issue ... in this case the flaws in campaign financing. Bernie delivers his objections regarding PACs and corporate influences in campaign financing with great vigor. He's honest and passionate in his criticism of how the system works. He almost admits that he'll never become the POTUS but is using his candidacy to raise issues that need to be addressed. Addressing the same issue, Trump has an ironic and folksy delivery. He doesn't scream and shout. He acknowledges the problem, admits that he has participated in it and involves his audience in his comments by pointing at people and asking *them* questions. He has a very laid back, often humorous style. I can understand why he has become popular with frustrated voters tired of professional politicians. Hillary delivers the same message in that staged, loud and overbearing style with the heavy voice inflections of old school politicians. She shouts her message with arms and hands flaying away, not seemingly aware of the people in the room listening to her and then nodding to herself as if she just announced some kind of earth shattering news. Yuk. |

Yuk. - - - Your boy Jeb, commenting on his brother's war against the Iraqis, the war that was so poorly planned Iraq dissolved into civil war: "I'll tell you, taking out Saddam Hussein turned out to be a pretty good deal." Well, it was a pretty good deal for defense contractors. |

Yuk. She may win the Democratic nomination by default but she won't win the election. |

I am amazed at how much free time Trump is getting, at least on CNN but it is really everywhere. He may actually be able to afford this campaign if it is not costing him anything to get TV time. I still think he has a pretty small following but I never underestimate what people will fall for if they see it often enough on TV. |

Yuk. She may win the Democratic nomination by default but she won't win the election. The Dems seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel for candidates. I wonder why they couldn't and can't do better for the American people? They rely on the fools voting the party and not the person. Hopefully 2016 will show Americans to be smarter than they have indicated in the past. -- Respectfully submitted by Justan Laugh of the day from Krause "I'm not to blame anymore for the atmosphere in here. His poll numbers indicate support by about 20 - 24 percent of the Republican base. That's not nearly enough to become POTUS. He has started to moderate his mouth though and is saying things intended to appeal to Independents and some Democrats. Reagan strategy. He has also promised to release position statements and details of what he will do to solve problems before the next debate scheduled for September. I never underestimate the incredible stupidity of the American electorate. In a 3 way race where 40% might win. who knows? I do think Trump would be a disaster but could it possibly be worse than Carter, GW or Truman? |

He finally explained how he'd get the Mexican government to pay for building a 1,000 mile wall to keep illegals out. Basically it's an ultimatum. Pay for the wall or start paying a hefty tariff on products manufactured in Mexico and sent to the USA for sale. Not exactly a wacky idea, frankly. He might kill two birds with one stone. Ford is going to open another large assembly plant in Mexico. If his tariffs applied to those auto products as well it might cause Ford to reconsider and keep the jobs in the USA. |

Trump is going to single-handedly abrogate NAFTA? That should be fun to watch. |
