It was weird.
In the early afternoon Mrs.E. suddenly got a strange, very peaceful
and calming feeling come over her. She got up and said she felt she
needed to go down and see her mother at the LifeCare facility. She
got there just in time to say her goodbyes and her mother then
peacefully passed away.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

My wifes mother is in her late 80s and has a number of health issues
but so far so good. We worry about her though.

Getting really old is tough and it's especially bad in a very close,
Italian cultural environment. My wife and her sister have been the
primary caregivers for both their father (who died a little over a year
ago) and the mother for the past 6 years. After the father died it got
worse with phone calls at all hours 10 or more times a day, picking up
medicine, buying food, paying her bills, dealing with her lawyer, etc.,
plus just the demands for time. Now that it's all over and although
it's only been 24 hours, Mrs.E can't believe the sense of not
having to run out to pick something up or take the complaining phone
calls.

It's something we need to plan for while we still have a few brain cells
left. Nobody wants to become a burden on their kids.
