How does that compare to the desert eagle .50
(Yeah I know I could just google something up)

Or this baby, which, I'm sure, Harry has his eye on. The Pfeifer Zeliska
28mm Revolver.

Well, one is a revolver and the other...isn't.

Either would be perfect for the conservative Florida househubby who
fears his wife is going to run off with an armadildo. (Yes, I know)

OK I did look it up.

The .50 is capped at 36000 pounds of pressure and the 500 can go up to
60000. That means the muzzle energy can be at least 1000 ft/p greater.

It sounds more like a good caliber for a carbine than a handgun

They have bullets up over an ounce moving at over 1500 fps which puts
you in the 12ga slug category.

Quick followup shots are a bitch. Seriously. If a bear is after you and
you miss with the first shot, which is likely, you'll be joining Mr.
Griz for lunch. Of course, in Florida, it's the perfect Stand Your
Ground revolver, eh?

Maybe you should try some Beano.

You are really incapable of civil conversation.

This is rec.boats. I tried "civil" for several months here, from
December through the end of February. Same old right-wing assholes
acting like right-wing assholes. There's no point in being "nice" in
this sewer.

My point about the .500 S&W is perfectly valid. Quick followup shots
are a bitch, and if you miss the bear, the bear is going to have you for
lunch. You disagree, eh?

Well, I have shot a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull. It's a bitch to
handle, and, really, not that much fun. The .500 S&W has to be about the
same or worse.

Of course, you're a theoretical shooter, right? I've been to the range
twice this month so far. You?

If you are going to buy commercial ammo, you won't be able to afford
to shoot this a lot. It looks like the ammo is $2 a round. OTOH the
bullets are about a quarter each in quantity of 500 (at Natchez) so
the reloaders really make out. Powder and primers add another nickel
or so.

$2 will buy about six quality FMJ rounds in .357 Mag. But of course we
don't have griz like they do in SE Florida 😃

Been out playing golf, and I came back to see this. Beautiful. Are you going to shoot
it or keep it nice and pretty. S&W has already shot it, yes? Hell, might as well
enjoy the thing.

Congrats.

BTW - #33 is in my sights. I'm linking the new Savage A17. I'm waiting
to see if they offer it in stainless.

Is that 32 guns you own, Ditzy.
That sure must be some shortcoming you're over compensating for.
How do y'all do it on a counterman's salary?

Don, you are so far out in left field that I doubt you could see the catcher even if
it were Harry.

And, have you considered the possibility that the #32 refers only to revolvers?
Perhaps

From where did you get the 'counterman' nonsense?

You should really consider thinking before you post.

Harry's narcissism is rubbing off on him. There are gun collectors out
there with hundreds of guns. I choose mine carefully with no intention
of ever selling them. The last gun I sold was a Beretta .25 a few years
ago and I regret that. I don't know where the "counterman" thing comes
from but I also don't know where he dreams up half of the crap he posts.

Define "quick". I am sure a guy who shoots one regularly could get
back down in far less than a second.

It has the compensated barrel, like my .44 magnum, so that should tame
it a bit. The .44 is a one-hander.

A guy who shoots one regularly probably wouldn't need to worry about 'quick followup
shots'.

[NB: Harry does not fall into that category.]

If you are going to buy commercial ammo, you won't be able to afford
to shoot this a lot. It looks like the ammo is $2 a round. OTOH the
bullets are about a quarter each in quantity of 500 (at Natchez) so
the reloaders really make out. Powder and primers add another nickel
or so.

I thought about that. I probably won't shoot it often but I will save
the brass. I've never reloaded but it's something I might try when I
retire and have more time. I paid a hair under $1.80/round for 100
rounds with shipping. Until now I didn't know reloading was that
economical. There are some very good reloaders at the local gun show.
Maybe I can trade them for ammo?

Who shoots one of those cannons "regularly"? I'd bet on the grizzly
bear and, of course, that is such a distinct possibility in SE
Florida. :)

No one shoots "on" a bear that I've ever seen. Some drunk Ruskies might
do that sort of thing.
