In harry's case and possibly a few others, I can see some real benefit
to that.

Shouldn't you be busy negotiating your next boatload of firearms and drugs?

And you have the gall to call anyone else loony.
You make up lies and then present them as fact. I am sure your wife
has a name for that kind of delusion.

You are one bitter little man tho. Life must have really bitch slapped
you around.
I do understand your frustration. Poor life choices have pretty much
guaranteed that you will die working.

Gosh, I hope so. I'd hate to be as retired as you are and having to fill
my life with silly make-work projects.

What an empty life you must have if you can't even conceive of
anything interesting to do if you don't have an employer lining up
your day.
I think it is Stockholm syndrome similar to those people released from
prison who are unable to deal with an unstructured life outside the
wire

I don't have "employers." I have four to five clients (the numbers
change depending upon the time of year), three of whom are on retainer
and the other one to two I do work for on a project basis. In addition
to the interesting work I get to do for them (research; write articles,
speeches, and position papers; write and help execute marketing plans,
maintain and update a couple of websites, et cetera), they several times
a year pay my way to interesting locations here and abroad. Next spring,
for example, I'll be traveling up to the Seattle area on business, and
then up to Alaska for a week's vacation, and there may be another trip
in store for me to Geneva. That's in the first half of the year.

I find that far more interesting than rebuilding an outdoor bar for the
non-drinkers in this household or tearing down and rebuilding a
clapped-out truck; clearing brush, maintaining obsolete computers,
operating systems and gear, and, of course, interacting with Palmetto bugs.

I do, however, like the fact that you can take your dog out on the boat
for sandbar and swimming trips. My cats, well, they're cats and they
won't do that sort of thing.
