Looked like the hawk won - I hope. Where we fly in Prince George's
County MD there is often an eagle flying high above. If it attacked
some of the bigger gas burners (170cc engine, for example) I'm afraid
it would not come out very well. The flyers do their best to stay away
from it.

I suppose it depends on how the eagle attacked. If it went nose to
nose, you are right but if it came up on the six or down from the top
it could easily rip off a flight surface without getting in the prop.

I have seen eagles and Osprey go at it but the Osprey always bails out
before there was any contact. Eagles do seem to think they are king of
the sky in a nose to nose confrontation so he might not duck.

I suppose it would depend on whether the eagle was defending territory
(head to head) or just plain hungry (sneak attack from out of the
sun). Either way could be bad news - for the eagle or the pilot of a
several thousand dollar model airplane.
