Looked like the hawk won - I hope. Where we fly in Prince George's


County MD there is often an eagle flying high above. If it attacked


some of the bigger gas burners (170cc engine, for example) I'm afraid


it would not come out very well. The flyers do their best to stay away


from it.




I suppose it depends on how the eagle attacked. If it went nose to

nose, you are right but if it came up on the six or down from the top

it could easily rip off a flight surface without getting in the prop.



I have seen eagles and Osprey go at it but the Osprey always bails out

before there was any contact. Eagles do seem to think they are king of

the sky in a nose to nose confrontation so he might not duck.


I've had hawks buzz me, but never attack. They seem more curious than anything, but because I fly glow or gas powered planes, I think the noise scares them away. Electrics are so quiet they aren't afraid of them.
