Default Solomon's Island Getaway

Always a fun place to go, May is a great time of the year to do it. The weather was perfect - no air
conditioner needed, and even had the heater on a couple nights. The best part was sitting by the
fire watching the sun set across the Patuxent River.

Boating in and around the harbor is fun...lots of boats to see:

Some with old salts getting ready for the next trip. This guy reminded me of Wayne for some reason:

We came across this boat, which was interesting. Looked like maybe it had crossed the Atlantic and
had a fireboat welcome in NY City.

I liked the lines of this one

and this one

And no trip to Solomons would be complete without an out-of-focus shot of an osprey family.

Lots of fun.

Then I went to visit brother in NC. Another 600 miles on that old Moto Guzzi. He's not doing all
that well, but hasn't recovered from the chemo yet. Still very weak. He'd be a good poster boy for
an anti-smoking campaign. Of course, three and a half years in Vietnam and the resulting Agent
Orange exposure probably didn't help much.

Very nice, John. Very nice indeed. Looks like you had a lot of fun and was worth getting away for. Good boat pictures too. Was the temps really humid? and I hope you missed out of the storms.

Well to correct myself, I know you said the weather was perfect but later, did you get any of that storm that came though the mid west last week?

It rained on the way down, but stopped about the time we pulled in. Only a light rain, so there was
no mud to contend with. The Navy has a nice campground there, but a low branch cost me another TV
antenna. This is the second one.

Well, at least you still have to top of the camper. a low branch took off the guard railing on my 22 ft Marqruis. I forgot it was a lot taller than the 18' Chris Craft. My bad!

But camping, I wouldn't be watching TV anyhow...

Camping? Sleeping in a mini motel room on wheels in suburbia is *camping* ?
There are three shopping centers across the street from that "campground."
Camping. 😃

With sunsets like this every night, and a nice campfire, who needs TV? I taped it back on, and
hopefully it won't leak.

Not the least bit humid. Daytime temps were in 70's, night got into low 50's. Had a great time.
