Your boy "w'hine" has done a terrific job driving out most of the actual
boating posters in rec.boats.cruising. It's mostly "w'hine" there, a guy
with a rebuilt old sailboat, and a dozen or so posters of indeterminate
gender. Perhaps they should move over to here, where actual boaters are
nearly as scarce.

You should join "w'hine" there, and help him finish the job, since you
are no longer an actual boater.
