Of course they would lose their "freedom" (freedom to get

drunk/stoned)

Or their 'freedom' in general. You can't tell me that many[if not
most] of the 'shelterless' don't have this attitude-

It is usually their quest for "freedom" that keeps them from gainful
employment, keeps them from going to shelters and what got them kicked
out of the Army.

I had *no* idea you righties were university and professionally trained
case workers with at least bachelors degrees in social work and intimate
knowledge of the plight of the homeless gained from your years of
working directly with hundreds or even thousands of homeless folks.
Perhaps you should get on the lecture circuit.

if those Educated, DR. Dr. Dr. soial workers were worth a ****, why do
we have so many street people? Why are they street people, alcoholic,
drug users forever? Most people with a Psch. degree went in to the
field to find out why they, themselves, are screwed up. How many cure
themselves?

Perhaps you should just chalk up my posts on this matter as an
experiment of mine to see who in wrecked.boats had a black heart.

Maybe you should answer the question instead of changing the subject.
But that is your MO.

It's an interesting posit, though. Isn't that sort of how you entered
the military...you were promised food, clothing, training, and a
paycheck? Why, I'll bet almost everyone who received that "Report for a
Physical" letter got on the bus, right?

But, hey, go ahead and cackle.

I never got "the letter". I was safely ensconced in my 2S when I made
the decision to join up and the promises made were kept.
There was also a sense of actually "doing for my country" as JFK asked
us to do.
I understand that to you and your friends the whole concept of serving
your country was "just for suckers". Let someone else put their ass on
the line so you can be safe.

My friends and I, as you put it, did not associate serving this country
with going to Vietnam and killing Southeast Asians.

Neither did I. When I joined we had just elected LBJ and he was going
to keep us out of that war. He promised.
http://gfretwell.com/ftp/johnson%20vietnam%20lie.mp3
The fact is the majority of the people in the military as a whole,
never went to Vietnam.
With your credentials, you should have been able to land a spot in
Germany. Then you could have used all of those language skills you
brag about to meet people you didn't have to shoot at.

To what end? You fellows seem to think that I missed something important
by not going into the military and having the opportunity to kill people
who meant my country no wrong.

I did spend nearly a year in Vietnam, up close and personal to the
action, but as a civilian. I saw a significant number of dead people of
both sides, and I often asked myself, "What the hell was this guy doing
here, fighting in a really stupid war and dying for nothing." And in
the end, that is all the guys on both sides died for...absolutely nothing.

Only the military contractors gained from that war. Oh, and of course,
the officer corps, because wars create billets and promotional
opportunities.

Promotional opportunities went to enlisted and warrant officers also. If you'd been, you'd have
know.

the post and responses certainly revealed who here had a black heart.

Can't answer the question, eh?

You can't demonstrate that ANYONE EVER took a blanket from a homeless
person.

You still don't get it. As I posted earlier, just chalk it up as an
experiment on my part to see who had a black heart.

I get it, start out with a lie and see who calls you on it.

You still never addressed the policy right up the road from you that
has exactly the same effect. If a homeless person tried to spend the
night in your beach towns they would be run off, blanket or not.

It wasn't a lie, silly. I simply posted a URL that discussed what was
happening in Pensacola. I believe that article discussed taking blankets
from the homeless.

As for Chesapeake Beach, which you keep bringing up, you should know
that we don't spend any time there, other than to drive through it once
in a while on the way to somewhere else. Years ago, we used to frequent
a nice little restaurant that specialized in Italian seafood dishes such
as cozze, but it changed hands and so did the menu. Most of the rest of
the restaurants there still reek of cigarettes from the days when
smoking in them was allowed, so we avoid them.

I have no idea what is happening in Chesapeake Beach in the homeless.
