You should stop in and visit your local Tea Party, they're a bunch of good people that think the government is spending way to much money. Not anyone you need to be afraid of. Mikek |

In the first few months of his presidency two bills are introduced in Congress with the full support of Cruz who promises to immediately sign them into law. The first is to overturn Roe v. Wade, making abortions illegal. The second is to reinstate both prayer and teaching of creationism in public schools. As a liberal, progressive Democrat, how hard would you be willing to fight to prevent these bills from becoming law? Point is the Tea Party crowd are as passionate about their beliefs as liberal Democrats are about theirs. Disclaimer: This post is in no way intended to suggest agreement or support of the "Tea Party" movement. There's not much that can be done while such bills were moving through Congress. If they were passed, though, I of course would support the efforts of interested parties to file suit in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia for injunctions, which I assure you would be granted. The District Court would find both unConstitutional. Cruz would appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth District, which would uphold the District Court. Cruz would try to get the U.S. Supreme Court to take an appeal. Since both laws would be in violation of settled law, it is not likely the Supremes would take the case. If they did, they would find for settled law, and Cruz would again be the fool. Those sorts of beliefs of course would keep Cruz from being elected in the first place. Cruz would be slaughtered in the popular and electoral vote and that might actually signal the end of the Republican Party. -- Religion: together we can find the cure. |

I guess the Tea Party crowd don't want to mess with courts, so they just block everything at the Congress level. |

I guess the Tea Party crowd don't want to mess with courts, so they just block everything at the Congress level. I don't know how the GOP extricates itself from the crazies who control the party or whether it even wants to do so. The U.S. House Tea Party members are in safe gerrymandered districts. Sitting U.S. Senators are hard to pry out of office. The last two days of negative comments coming from the far right about Chris Christie are, I think, indicators that the Republicans aren't going to change. The funny thing, of course, is that Christie is a genuine conservative, but not conservative enough for the Tea Party types. Of course I have no idea who is going to be the standard bearer for either party in 2016. But I do know that for the Dems, it will not be a crazy person. For the Repubs, I'm pretty sure it will be. Someone like Jon Huntsman, Jr., hasn't a chance for the nomination, but he'd do well in the general election. -- Religion: together we can find the cure. |

Maybe they are upset with a government than is hell bent on spending us in to doom. A recession, the like of has not been seen for a thousand years. We lose World Reserve Currency status and we are probably in worse shape than most 3rd world countries. A populace who is not inclined to work hard, and depends way to much on government handouts. Those flyover, redneck areas will probably survive a hell of a lot better than most Liberal Arts majors, and large city dwellers. |
