had such a nice boating day, yesterday, we decided to launch again today.
Sal****er this time. Launched on the North West Arm at 1100 hrs and headed south to round point Pleasant park and headed north all the way up past the 2nd bridge and just into Bedford basin. On the way we passed three cruise ships at piers 20, 21 and 23. Then cruised past downtown Halifax and next the navy base. On the return trip we went over to the east side of the harbor and drifted off Wreck Cove on Macnab's Island so I could have a whiz break and replenish with a glass of cool clear water. Talked the wife into navigating the shallow channel between Lawler's and MacNab's Islands and for the first time headed south to the last of the three islands in the outer harbor. Swells were gentle and the water itself was almost as calm as at the lake. Stopped off Devil's Island for a bit while trying to take pictures with cellphones. Should have brought my camera. Headed back through the Eastern Passage, made famous when the Tallahasie used it to avoid Northern gunboats during your Civil War. We went around to the lighthouse where deserting sailors used to be hung from gibbets by the Royal navy. then it was back to the launch where I had a couple dozen bicycling German cruise ship visitors watch me retrieve my boat. Great day. |
