A performance advantage? Funny stuff.

Shot a "10" one afternoon at the range. Just bloody awful. Don't like
.40 S&W much, either. Do like the .357 mag in an S&W 27-2.

The 10mm can get you over 600 ft/lbs ME as will a .357
The 9mm, even in the +P loads are almost half that at around 360 and
the .45 +P squeaks out close to 500.

There used to be a big advantage in the bullets you could use in a
wheel gun but these days they have high performance bullets for SAs so
it just gets down to what you can load in the case and what SAAMI will
bless.

Wow...I could knock those empty sodapop cans over with more force!

Like John says, if you are just poking holes in paper or plinking
cans, maybe a .22 is more appropriate ... or maybe a BB gun.

They make some real nice CO2 guns these days and a lot of people like
Air Soft guns.
My dad made a BB gun range on the basement when I was about 10.
It used an old piece of carpet as a backstop with a stick of "K"
gutter under it that recycled the BBs quite well. They collected in a
bucket at the end.

Your error is in buying into Herring's explanation of why I buy or sell
anything. I stated I bought the .45 ACP revolver because I long wanted a
..45 double action revolver, not because I wanted to shoot it at the
range or use it as a carry weapon or even as a household defense weapon.

I have firearms more than adequate for paper and can plinking, including
a cherry Ruger Mark III with fancy wood grips, a sight rail and a red
dot sight I occasionally use.

You obviously bought the 45 to hunt varmints and other mammals.

Nah, he got rid of the Commie 9mm and got a .45 'cause I got one.
