Did you have a choice? Could you negotiate the price or did she just open it and you were stuck? Yeah, that's what I thought. I didn't ask for the blanket and I didn't even want it but it was given to me and "stuck" on my bill. I also did not really have standing to argue about it because the insurance paid (no doubt a lot less than $30). BTW for those who say the answer is "government medicine" I should point out this is a government owned and operated hospital with elected directors . So, you didn't have a choice. As I said, you don't care because your "insruance" paid. So, you're a big part of the problem. I have been saying all along, insurance is a big part of the problem. It isolates the patient from the bill. That's right. The problem is that the "bill" is made up nonsense. If you're an insurance company you can claim you're getting the patient a good deal. The answer is not to transfer the made up cost to the patient and have them "negotiate" when they're in the ER. The only way to stop this nonsense if for government intervention. It's not a free market system anyway so why pretend? Oh except if you're making 2000% profit or some such bs. VA? So? At least they can negotiate prices for drugs. Unlike Medicare. County owned hospital, a virtual monopoly here. Thus, you have no choice. |

Most people understand the problem but, Urin-ing-in-his-pants doesn't want to solve the problem, he just wants the issue. VA? So? At least they can negotiate prices for drugs. Unlike Medicare.
