Yes it's a degree or two above freezing and with memories of the weekend

show a promotional video of my new boat.
This video shows items in a beige colour that went to black on my 2012 model.
Boat came with a full stand up canvas protection. I upgraded to the
Mercury 60 Big Foot outboard,Deluxe Contour swivel seats and galvanized
trailer, bought a travel cover, engine cover, transom saver etc.

Nice little fish & ski. Why did you get the Big Foot? They are for
trolling larger boats, sailboats, and pontoons, right? Are your seats
really black?

Both dealer and manufacturer recommended the 60 Big Foot. They claim it's the most popular outboard for my boat.
I've read other articles that also recommend this motor for wide stern boats... and mine does look wide for a 16.5 footer. Kicks up quite a wake at low speeds.
I suppose it provides low end power to get a water skiier up and going

You shouldn't take everything a salesman says as gospel. You bought a
Rav 4 truck from a salesman, remember?

See the new RAV4's... if they had kept the V6, I'd be driving one now.
Instead I have to negotiate for a Highlander.

fire anymore. If it ever did.

There's only a couple of dip****s in my filter. He's one of them, down
there with etc and one other, I think.

Maybe that's a trade-off for a smaller OB so far off of the 90HP rating.

The low end torque is nothing to ignore. If you are not interested in
the absolute top end, keeping the low end is worth the extra few
hundred for the big foot. You also shave 100 pounds off the motor
going for the 40-60 (or 70 in the Yamaha) vs the 75-90.
In a small boat that is significant.

Higher torque is important for a boat like yours but with a loss of
speed and fuel economy Donnie's boat will suffer some.
