have to drive to DC rather than take the commuter bus or the Metro, and
many times I drive along Pennsylvania Avenue into and out of the city,
right through Anacostia. I've also Metro'd in to see the Nats play, and
that goes right through Anacostia, too. Over the years, I've been on
commerical and large scale residential jobsites all over DC, including
Anacostia. I've parked in Anacostia and walked several blocks to job
sites when onsite parking wasn't available. You'd think by now I would
have seen a few reasons for those hot spots, eh?

Ha... We have a road through our area that goes from town to town. When
I was a kid you might see twenty cars there in a day. Now it's not
uncommon to pass twenty cars going the opposite direction in the one
mile length I travel on... I found a map a while back from 1955, there
were about 20 streets in town, now there are over 200... In the last few
years really the traffic tieup from Hartford rush hour has made it all
the way to our exit afternoons. It's not bad but you do slow down to
about 35-45 for about a mile or two.

It is, indeed, though the traffic does keep moving pretty well, even
with the lights, until Prince Frederick, where it jams up for 10 minutes
or so between 4 and 7 pm. That's why we use the commuter bus and let the
bus driver deal with the traffic.

Even with our rush traffic, though, we're still in a much nicer area
than your overcrowded, heavily polluted, gang-and-racist-infested part
of Fairfax County.
