Sensible? Me? That's a laugh. You do have a point though. There's an

awful lot of snarkiness, insulting, threats and splitting of hairs to

wade through to find an interesting post or two, not that my standards

are that high. But what is the point of reading through a hundred or

more posts to find a good boating discussion?

I use my filters when I get into to a new group... after three or four

bad, insulting, or just plain trollish posts I quickly learn who to

watch and who not to.. Admittedly there are a few here who probably have

me binned, so be it but I have made an effort since our main instigator

left us a couple weeks back... He was don's best bud and don seems to be

trying to keep the flames going for him.. Stick around, adjust your

filters, there are still some pretty cool folks here.

You really are delusional... no surprise considering your Peter Pan/Tinker Bell lifestyle.
You are the one who continues to aid and abett the single worst lunatic in this and other newsgroups...that is just a tad worse than you.

Ok don, thanks for the update...

We're here to help. Give us your phone number and we'll call you when
someone starts an interesting racing shell or ice-boat thread.

Oh, ok. 666-6666, extension 666. Just ask for NATAS.

Seriously, my humble opinion is that the seemingly endless snarkiness
and insulting turns off new posters and chills conversation. It sure
makes it difficult to read a thread, at least for me, because when I
come across examples of what I've mentioned, I tend to stop reading the
thread.

This morning, one poster here whose ID I won't mention, apparently
wished another poster were either dead or sick.

Well, that surely entices decent newbies to hang around, doesn't it?
He's not the only example of being nasty to others, either.

My interests in boating go beyond ice boats. Mainly I am interested in
wind or self powered boats, but I like all sorts of boats and I have
other interests too. Treating other people like **** though isn't among
them.

Well, you've got rec.boats...building, cruising, electronics, kayak, marketplace, paddle, paddle
touring, paddle whitewater, racing, racing power, and sailing. One or more of those may be of more
interest. But, it doesn't hurt to do as one poster suggested, use a filter here and there.

There used to be a lot of sailing discussed on 'cruising'. Don't know if it still is or not. Could
be it's become a cess pool like this place. A few folks just won't quit.

I've been posting about things that matter to me and you've been
jerking off while your buddies do whatever they can to insult Harry
and whomever you can associate with those on the left.

Sorry little dweeb you are. You guys could be left all to yourselves
and no one would want to post here.

Rather than having to filter out at least half the baker's dozen of
posters here, wouldn't it be better to try to get the insulters to behave
or to just ignore them all of them entirely? I'm already not reading
a couple of posters here because, well, frankly, they're just obnoxious
and looking for a fight or dropping an insult with just about everything
they post here. If I filter out more posters, there won't be many left
here to read.

The pièce de résistance for me came today when one poster wished another
poster was sick or dead and another poster seemed to threaten yet another
poster with murder. The question that should be asked is why are such
posters tolerated?
