No RFID cards here

Think Passport and/or TWIC cards.

We are WAY behind Europe in regards to personal finance like debit
cards, etc.

In what respect? What is the advantage to debit cards?

None, that's why you don't see them in most European countries anymore.
They use pre-loaded cards.

-------------------------------
the advantage they have is the debit cards are more secure with Pin and
Chip. A lot harder to clone. They use less credit cards because they are
not accepted as many places as here. Friends have a small donut shop.
Customers want to use a credit card for a 2 dollar purchase of coffee and
donut. They would lose money on the sale as there is a $0.24 transaction
fee minimum in place of a percentage charge. Same for Debit cards, they
have to pay fee. Europe merchants would not accept a card in a small place
like a donut shop. Lots of B&B's do not take credit cards. And if you get
out of the bigger cities and towns lots of merchants do not accept cards at
all. I use credit cards a lot as I get a percent back on the AMEX and miles
on the Master Card. They never carry a balance, so not interest charges.

What sort of fraud protection guarantee do debit cards carry?

We have debit cards because we don't need or want credit. Credit cards
are one of the reasons the American economy is in the shape it is in,
now.

I will note, that a LOT of the unmanageable credit run up on credit
cards is due to the uncontrolled expense of health care.

The federal government should be run on debit cards.
If you can't live within a realistic budget, you shouldn't be allowed
credit in the first place.

When is the last time the U.S. even had a budget? What a horrible
example to set before the American people.

Pay it off every month, and it won't be such a burden to your economy. In fact, it can be a boon
because of the paybacks that come with its use.

How? You mean I don't REALLY have a debit card?

In Europe they use pre-loaded smart cards.
