No RFID cards here

Think Passport and/or TWIC cards.

We are WAY behind Europe in regards to personal finance like debit
cards, etc.

How? You mean I don't REALLY have a debit card?

In Europe they use pre-loaded smart cards.

They use preloaded cards because their electronic banking system is
not that great across the borders. people are likely to cross.

I just don't understand how the elites don't understand the differences
in simple logistics here and over there... Comparing us to Europe just
doesn't work, it's apples to oranges.

Our monetary systems work the same, moron.

We have debit cards because we don't need or want credit. Credit cards
are one of the reasons the American economy is in the shape it is in,
now.

I will note, that a LOT of the unmanageable credit run up on credit
cards is due to the uncontrolled expense of health care.

http://bucks.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/...dit-card-debt/

Pay it off every month, and it won't be such a burden to your economy. In fact, it can be a boon
because of the paybacks that come with its use.

A great article disproving your point.
When did a US state drop out of the banking system like UK did in
1992?

whooooosh.......

-------------------------------
the advantage they have is the debit cards are more secure with Pin and
Chip. A lot harder to clone. They use less credit cards because they are
not accepted as many places as here. Friends have a small donut shop.
Customers want to use a credit card for a 2 dollar purchase of coffee and
donut. They would lose money on the sale as there is a $0.24 transaction
fee minimum in place of a percentage charge. Same for Debit cards, they
have to pay fee. Europe merchants would not accept a card in a small place
like a donut shop. Lots of B&B's do not take credit cards. And if you get
out of the bigger cities and towns lots of merchants do not accept cards at
all. I use credit cards a lot as I get a percent back on the AMEX and miles
on the Master Card. They never carry a balance, so not interest charges.

I think we here in the US call them....

wait for it...

Debit cards!

There you go...

Uh, are you as stupid as you post???

--------------------

No he is confused. We have preloaded cards here. Those with bad credit use
them. Europe uses debit cards just like us. Linked to your bank account.
You must not have ever been to Europe, or only for a short vacation, as you
seem to be lacking in experience. Debit cards are not normally preloaded,
but credit cards than can be used as debit are.

Exactly what I said... we call them debit cards here, and they are by
nature preloaded because they only work if you "load" your account with
money first.... The guy is a dope...
