Uh, Donnie...when you mentioned Consumer Reports classifying your RAV4 as an SUV (and therefore, in your opinion, a truck), you failed to mention some of the other 'trucks' they classified the same way, like: Nissan Rogue http://static2.consumerreportscdn.or...4-cyl-cvt.jpeg Mini Countryman http://static2.consumerreportscdn.or...n-s-4-cyl.jpeg Subaru Forester http://static2.consumerreportscdn.or...ium-4-cyl.jpeg ....and so on. Are all these vehicles 'trucks'? |

It depends upon who is buying them and who is selling them. But, when you go to register them you will find out whether you are registering a truck or a car. Since you brought that up, the Ford Ranchero, the Chevy El camino and the GM Sprint were all registered as 'trucks'. Actually it seemed they were station wagons with the back top lopped off. hmmmm |

But, it is treated like, not as, a car in all other respects. |

The difference between car and truck depends in part on the cargo area being covered. So if you have a pickup truck with a cap it is classed as a car and OK on the parkways. |

The difference between car and truck depends in part on the cargo area being covered. So if you have a pickup truck with a cap it is classed as a car and OK on the parkways. It depends upon who owns the vehicle. We have the Geo. Washington Parkway which doesn't allow commercial vehicles. If you have signs on the side or if you have an apportioned license plate you may not drive on the Parkway. There is an exclusion for cabs and busies. The interesting thing was watching the work on the Parkway a few yearss back. The Parkway is mostly concrete construction. When they were pulling up the old roadway the concrete was about 36" in depth and it was being replaced with 18" depth concrete. This was either a cost savings or better concrete. They had to improve the bedding under the concrete by 18". |
