Nah. He was a custom home builder. Union contractors aren't much into
single family construction. He had good references, I checked them in
person. Previous customers and suppliers. But he overextended himself
badly and used a draw from my project to pay the subs on his previous
projects and when I asked to see the lien releases relating to the first
draw from the subs on my house, he kept making excuses. I fired him from
the project and then initiated a civil suit. I finished the job as my
own general contractor and hired a jobsite manager, a good carpenter,
actually, to complete the house.
