Default 1986 Mercruiser w/ 351?

I just bought an '86 19' Stingray with a Ford 351W 4bbl motor and a
Mercruiser stern drive. Anyone know what the advertised HP for this
motor was? Anything to watch out for?

Thanks

Parts are available from Red Line Marine in Lewiston, ID. The pulleys are
marine only and when you can not keep the belt tight, buy new ones.

Are you sure it's an '86? I doubt it very much. The 351W 4 bbl is the
MerCruiser 233, 233hp, dating to about 1971-1974. Your auction photos in
"supersize" show a much older drive - early 1970's - not 1986. Boat style
too. An '86 would be nearly indistinguishable from an Alpha I drive..

And on a boat that old I'd be looking out for stringer or transom rot.

Merc used the 351W from 1975-1977. The 4bbl was 255hp. The 233hp was a 2bbl.
I've owned a 233 since it was new in 1976 and done nothing except routine
maintainence. A nice motor.
In 1978 Merc went all GM.

About 235 h.p. You can do some tricks with the ignition and the carb and
squeeze about another 15-20 h.p. out of it. I have the 2bbl version in my
Searay.
