My wife has one and it's a nice machine, but it is heavy. and it's
also loaded with Visa, which is kind of a pain, but it does
everything
she needs it for, which is a lot more than what i need. She's
had no
problem with the machine itself, but the battery died w/in
warranty,
and who ever she bought it from sent her one out promptly and a
call
tag to send the defective one back shipping paid both ways.

The Geek Squad at Best Buys will remove all that stuff for $25.
Not sure if they'll work on any
computer, or if it has to be bought there. My wife's was very
clean when she brought it home.

hmmm, I said 'Visa" when I meant "Vista" just now caught it. but you

Let's see...Tim's wife's computer was loaded with Visa, which "is kind
of a pain..." Visa, aka Vista, is the operating system on that
computer.

I wonder what parts of the operating system the Best Buy boys will
remove, and how well the computer will run without them?

You don't need or want Vista, install Win7 instead. If the computer
is current, there's no way it'd be delivered with Vista.

I've been using Win7 Pro for quite a while now, and I really like it.
Very stable like XP Pro, and it's easier. It does take some getting
used to but not like Vista.


My wife's new home desktop computer came with some flavor of Win 7,
but other than installing some software on it for her, I've managed to
avoid using it. She's also got an ancient HP laptop running XP, but
only uses that to pull in email when she travels. It's a clunker and I
think I'm going to get her to donate it to some organization and get
her an iPad III when it comes out, or maybe a netbook. Her laptop
weighs about 8 pounds with the powerpack. The iPads weigh next to
nothing.
Two windows machines in the house? Kind of throws the phrase "I only
post with a Mac *out the window*" Snerk.


I don't have access to my wife's computers. She has some info on them
about people she is treating and therefore they are not accessible by
anyone but her.
