i'm sure that new jersey doesn't offer as many areas to kayak as other
parts
of the country, but i was hoping to get some suggestions. any help would
be
appreciated.

There are plenty of paddlers in NJ as well as places to paddle. What sort
of kayaking are you interested in? There's lakes, rivers, shorelines, not
too much whitewater but enough to keep you busy (and it's not a long trip to
nearby states).
