Default Paddling Inside Passage

I'm in the embryo stage of planning a kayak trip from bellingham, wa
to either ketchikan or juneau. don't know when i'm going; depends on
how the planning goes. i'm looking for any info, i.e., trip length,
navigation tips, places to see, do's and dont's, recommended gear,
places to get maps, what are the best maps to use, ANYTHING insightful
you might think an inside passage rookie might need/want to know.
thanks for all the help, in advance. cheers.
