"Common was invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to appear at a poetry reading on May 11, 2011 at the White House.[15] This caused furor with the New Jersey State Police and their union,[16] who disagreed with his lyrical content. The president of the New Jersey State Troopers Fraternal Association voiced concern to the White House. They cite the song "A Song For Assata" which lavishly praises a member of the Black Liberation Army named Joanne Chesimard,[17] a domestic terrorist who was convicted in 1977 of the first degree murder of a state trooper and sentenced to life in prison." "He is a Christian and has been a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago led by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright since his childhood. Following the controversy over one of Wright's sermons, Common criticized the American news media's coverage of the incident as having "an agenda."[ Not quite Mr. Burton, eh? *But at least you're standing up for a Christian... oh, he's a "God damn America" Christian. *Figures. *One of your brothers. *:-) This place never changes. *Still inhabited by left-wing, lemming liberals. *Ya'll have fun. 1. There are many unanswered questions about that Jersey Pike shooting. * * There's also no question that Chesimard is a bad character. Be that * * as it may, Common has every right to write any sort of song lyrics * * he likes. The answered one is that Chesimard was duly convicted. And everyone has the right to not like that Common was invited to the WH after defending a very bad person, and to blame Obama for doing just that. 2. There are far worse churches around than those in which the * * Rev. Wright held the pulpit. Not many and not much worse, and BHO attended this one. The one that teaches hatred of America. Your boy Cheney lied us into a way that... Not even a good try at deflection... it remains that the Obama's invited an asshole to the WH. Probably was a favor to Wright. Besides, I thought it was Bush that lied, now it's Cheney. Of course, we have video evidence from back in the Clinton era that the Dems in the House and Senate were calling for us to go in to get Sadam, and that he had WMDs, long before Bush. Bush just enabled them to pull the trigger. Got to go. Boating tomorrow, then headed down to see the Shuttle launch Monday. Call your nurse for your wheelchair. :- |
