Common is about the least controversial rapper in the business. He s
roughly as edgy as LeVar Burton. He s the rap version of Wayne Brady.
He s a friendly, easy-going, cross-cultural musician and actor who stars
in easygoing rom-coms with Queen Latifah, only appears menacing to Tina
Fey and Steve Carrell on celluloid, and is typically the first person
mentioned whenever anybody brings up the concept of a conscious MC.

"Common was invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to appear at a poetry
reading on May 11, 2011 at the White House.[15] This caused furor with
the New Jersey State Police and their union,[16] who disagreed with
his lyrical content. The president of the New Jersey State Troopers
Fraternal Association voiced concern to the White House. They cite the
song "A Song For Assata" which lavishly praises a member of the Black
Liberation Army named Joanne Chesimard,[17] a domestic terrorist who
was convicted in 1977 of the first degree murder of a state trooper
and sentenced to life in prison."

"He is a Christian and has been a member of the Trinity United Church
of Christ in Chicago led by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright since his
childhood. Following the controversy over one of Wright's sermons,
Common criticized the American news media's coverage of the incident
as having "an agenda."[

Not quite Mr. Burton, eh? But at least you're standing up for a
Christian... oh, he's a "God damn America" Christian. Figures. One
of your brothers. :-)

This place never changes. Still inhabited by left-wing, lemming
liberals. Ya'll have fun.

1. There are many unanswered questions about that Jersey Pike shooting.
There's also no question that Chesimard is a bad character. Be that
as it may, Common has every right to write any sort of song lyrics
he likes.

2. There are far worse churches around than those in which the
Rev. Wright held the pulpit.

Your boy Cheney lied us into a way that killed 4000 Americans and thens
of thousands of non-combatant Iraqis. Cheney was often at the White
House. He's far worse than Common ever was or will be.
