Default Breaking in the new C-Dory and doin' it right - with a big 'ol sturgy!

After sitting in my easy chair since Dec 1, too wimpy for winter
fishing in my old age, I finally headed to Brannan Island State Park
near Rio Vista, CA and an overnighter on Suisun Bay, downriver about
20 miles.

The main purpose of this trip was to finally break in my new (to me) C-
Dory after all the projects of the winter. She was more than ready to
go fishing and all went well.

I managed to catch a fight'n fool of a sturgy about 57" long near
Decker Island on Day 1. He was scrappy and put up a grand battle for
about 10 minutes or so. As usual, he fell for a luncheon of eel
steak.

Nice boat. You mentioned putting varnish on the exposed balsa...wouldn't
an epoxy coating be a more durable choice?

Boat and fish both look good. How long is the C-Dory?

"Don and Ed release their second sturgeon near Decker Island. This
photo is a bit grainy due to the long, 12X telescopic shot required."

Looked great to me...

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

The C-Dory is 22' long. It's my second of the exact same hull. Due to
a dementia episode about three years ago, I sold my '87. This new (to
me) '09 is the fourth boat since I sold the other one. Dementia is
expensive! Yep - they've been making this exact same hull for almost
25 years.
