Default Ban All Knives

All knives should be banned. Regardless of their usefulness to society
when used legally knives should be banned.

Oh well, who cares? Unless your kid, spouse, relative or friend has
been killed by a lunatic with a gun.

Bertie Poop doesn't care because he's a calloused idiot who thinks
Sharron Angle is a babe.

I heard that over 2,000,000 people died in alcohol related deaths last
year. If you are concerned about saving lives you are putting your
efforts into an area that will not yeild the most relief.

Making up numbers as we go along? There were 9,369.
http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cr...-with-firearms

Total number of murders? There were 16,204.
http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur-crime-murders

Most murders? South Africa. They have gun control - competency laws.
http://www.southafrica.info/public_s...ens/gunlaw.htm

Second most gun murders? Columbia. Attempts to eliminate guns?
Apparently, an abject failure, but then, you can only eliminate the
legal ones....
http://www.southafrica.info/public_s...ens/gunlaw.htm

Third most murders? Thailand... Gun control? Yep. Working? Nope.
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/...s-in-thailand/

People with common sense and a sense of history realize why
prohibition failed.... this is no different.....

You paint it as all or nothing. It's not. There's something called
common sense, to which you claim to be a subscriber.

How about trying to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally insane
for starters? Does that encroach on your freedom to bear arms?

aw, gee. the numbers are highly variable. they've been as high as
17,000 in the last 20 years. and as low as around 10,000

Most murders? South Africa. They have gun control - competency laws.

tell you what. when the US becomes a 3rd world country you let me
know.

yeah. the US isn't a 3rd world country. although the NRA is trying
hard...

I'm perfectly OK with keeping ANY sort of weapon out of the hands of
the insane, even pencils and door keys.

So, the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits the possession of
firearms by the mentally ill. How's that law working for you?

not too well since the NRA gutted it and allowed the insane AND people
on the terrorist watch list to have guns

Oh, I know.... we could use the South African competency laws as a
model.... oh, heck.... but their rate of gun murders is about 4 times
what it is here!

i love it when the right compares teh US to a 3rd world country.
