No photos, for several reasons. including, but not limited to, this one:

First, for the next three weeks or so, the boat is being slipped at a
local marina with easy public access, and considering the short tempers
and other negative personality traits of some of the posters here, it
could easily become a target for being "sniped" or worse, as it were.

If I see you on the waterways, I'll wave.- Hide quoted text -

Fair enough I guess. but I would think you could at least show some
closeups of the dash or something that wouldn't leave you too
identifyable...

I could but I won't. There aren't going to be any photos of our new boat
posted here.

OK, I guess we wouldn't want to do that to rec.boats... sooooo, how
about the motorcycle? I would like to see that.

I'm certainly glad I don't have to worry about that sort of thing.

See, and here I'm thinking she owns too much already! Trust me, without my
saying a word, I'll be asked every time we go out, "Is the battery all charged
up, sweetie?" (Underneath will be a tone that says, "You dumb ****!"

I understand perfectly. It's possible however that if you made it an
"official" process, some of the attitude might go away.

It's not the only reason. As an example, if I posted I went with a
Furuno electronics package instead of a Raymarine package, or an open
rather than closed, array radar, or one brand of boat over another, or
one sized boat or style of boat over another, et cetera, I'd only be
supplying grist for the mills of the ill-wishers who are still here. I
experienced a little of that nonsense already with the new boat here.
It's the price I am willing to pay to be part of the minority here,
politically. So, no photos, no hard details.

I will say that I spent a lot of time boat shopping, took at least a
dozen demo rides, and visited three factories for real tours before
making a decision. My decision was also influenced by the fact that I
was able to retain a recommended surveyor near the factory site. He was
able to inspect the boat at various stages of construction and act as my
agent in certain areas. He influenced wiring, deck core, "plumbing"
options and choice of non-engine electronics, among other areas.

If I see you on the waterways, I'll wave.

And the ID spoofing continues, as evidence by the post immediately
above. Obviously, the spoofer has no interest in improving the
atmosphere in rec.boats.

Would you say that your actions here in the past helped "improve" the
atmosphere here?

Doesn't matter anymore... We all have a clean slate, well, except for
you now I guess...

What do you think the intentions are of someone who logs on with that
handle and trolls, Tosk? Why encourage them by responding at all?

I will see how things go for now... Back to that boat, wtf can it
hurt... I mean, who here could snipe at a brand new boat, and if they
do.. well, you know where they are coming from.

However, if you decide to post some pix (shed some skin for the group) I
will join your boycott (shed some skin too)...

It's a rather sad commentary that I've behaved so badly here, that I now
need to worry that someone might actually take the time to travel here
and vandalize my boat.

For those who think the ID spoofing assholes are now behaving, check the
post immediately above.

These spoofers have *no* interest in helping reform rec.boats into a
decent newsgroup. The referenced post provides the evidence needed to
prove my point that I am correct in not posting photos or detailed
descriptions of our new boat.

It's too bad we still have these cowardly rat-turds among us.

I know that I am one who did this relentlessly to others, but I do not
wish to be the recipient of it. The whole Parker-low-transom jabbing I
endured for months taught me a lesson: Avoid giving any details to others.

It's the price I am willing to pay to be part of the minority here,

Yes, I know I have harangued others to prove they owned a boat. I am now
joining them. However, it should be clear to all by now that I don't do
as I say. I still believe that we should all use our full names on
usenet, not just handles. I haven't changed my mind about that, yet.

Let me add that I'm not speaking about a toy boat factory in China. I
know that because of the whole lobster-type boat debacle, some of you
don't believe me now. Too bad for you. I will not be supplying any more
hard details or photos about my boat.

Wow!

I'm in the political minority here, too. I think I shall refrain from
posting any boat photos or any really personal information.

Jesus.

Remember that boat I have up at Lake Zoar? It's actually up at Lake
Michigan. And I boat out of Los Angeles, not Branford. i live in Tokyo.

:)
