If you live in the U.S, even now, you wouldn't like living almost anywhere as the "middle class" in Europe. bull**** It most likely does not cost him 20% less to produce the coffee pot than 10 years ago. And that production cost is only 20% of the sales price. So 20% less production cost, with 40% higher taxes, means the pot sells for about the same it did 10 years ago. Make it in China and the production cost is cut 80%, Presidents previous to your hated Bush gave "Most favored nation" status to China, and they get to ship here without any penalty. They cut the sales price 10% and you can not sell your American made pot. You want fairness, make the same rules for them as do for us. You want to make cars in China or Japan or South Korea, their laws require you partner with a Chinese company. Tell Toyota, et. al. which company you want to partner with. We got 3 to choose from right now. Change the laws to match theirs. I do not know where you work in Semiconductors, but you are being paid less every year as you are stupid. Those Chinese Engineers that you say do not exist are doing a better job for less money, on an H-1 visa. China has lots of engineers in China. Lots are graduates of top American universities. Tell the Legislative bodies that the budget has to be balanced, and you only get paid with money left over from a balanced budget. Not borrowing $0.46 of every $1.00 the government is spending federally. Same goes for states. |

This is YOUR definition, but not the one any reasonable person would use. Change the laws to match theirs. I do not know where you work in Semiconductors, but you are being paid less every year as you are stupid. really? got proof? because i'm middle class. and the middle class hasnt had a pay raise in 40 years. the wealthy had a 500% pay increase So do something useful to become "wealthy", whatever that is. Productivity does not mean more output per manhour, it means more output with LESS manpower mathematically the same. ever take a course in math? - automation, imported cheaper materials and robotics accellerate productivity. Output of labor has declined due to automation, but the yield is of higher quality. you can have EITHER a capital intensive economy OR a labor intensive economy. you can not have both. we had full employment a few years back remember? and we STILL had NO wage increases. we had 28% increase in producdtivity in the last 10 years and STILL no wage increases while the wealthly went up. why only in the US? answer: people like you who push the right wing kool aid Change the laws to match theirs. IOW you can't answer the question. yep. i knew it. no other country saw such a disparity. how do you explain that? right now your argument is taht the middle class is lazy, shiftless and doesnt even deserve to be paid why do the germans, french, etc., not have this problem even though we work more hours than they do? For much of this period Canada took it in the ass like companies did in your country. It has improved faster in Canada, but will not return to 2000 to 2004 levels. Full employment of minimum wage clerks (crap wages, not the artificial and destructive statute minimum wage) is fine for the equivalent lifestyle. The previous subject was the middle class. Wages stagnated and decreased due to a tremendous decrease in demand for everything from design and engineering to factory labor. I had a machine department manager that offered to take the job at the same rate I paid my secretary 18 years prior. Why? The market sets the price of wages. Always. If you aren't needed, why would you be paid more, or be employed at all? What I'm explaining is visible to the naked eye, it has nothing to do with the idiocy of political superstitions or the bedwetters you stare slack jawed at on television. I detect YOU haven't had a wage increase either. You're in the wrong country. |

In the U.S. of 25 years ago it would be considered government housing. But it's better there, right? Speaking of U.S. dollars, Philippine Banks almost never accept U.S. currency exchange any more. To get Php you need to use an ATM or find a high rate dollar exchange booth at "the market." That's impressive. |
