I don't usually need my driver's license for much more than getting on
an airplane. The bank is happy if I swipe my debit card and punch in
the pin. I am not sure why I would need any ID at the grocery store,
they don't card me for beer anymore.

You still write checks? God, man it is the 21st century.


I write maybe 5 checks a year. Usually for some specialized gardening work,
where he wants to be paid right after the work. I also don't use my debit
card except for gas. There are many fewer consumer protections for debit vs.
credit cards.

They have a lot of expenses.

I use my DL number all the time without pulling it out. Most places
trust that if you got the number in your head, they really don't need to
see the card. Especially folks like grocery stores and banks that know
