Default Well done article on 'America's Poor'

Read this, and then you'll realize that your wealth is being given away with
good reason. Some of these folks have only a 42" television, when the size of
their living room demands a 60" TV.

http://tinyurl.com/yf3tan2

Three very important paragraphs:

"In both good and bad economic environments, the typical American poor family
with children is supported by only 800 hours of work during a year—the
equivalent of 16 hours of work per week. If work in each family were raised to
2,000 hours per year—the equivalent of one adult working 40 hours per week
throughout the year—nearly 75 percent of poor children would be lifted out of
official poverty.

As noted above, father absence is another major cause of child poverty. Nearly
two-thirds of poor children reside in single-parent homes; each year, an
additional 1.5 million children are born out of wedlock. If poor mothers married
the fathers of their children, nearly three-quarters of the nation's
impoverished youth would immediately be lifted out of poverty.

Yet, although work and marriage are reliable ladders out of poverty, the welfare
system perversely remains hostile to both. Major programs such as food stamps,
public housing, and Medicaid continue to reward idleness and penalize marriage.
If welfare could be turned around to encourage work and marriage, the nation's
remaining poverty could be reduced."

Maybe completing high school and not making illegitimate babies would be a big
help. Of course, then the Democrats couldn't get the votes by offering all the
'help' to the poor.

notice how he ignores

1. the WORKING poor
2. the MIDDLE CLASS which, while not poor, stands a decent chance of
becoming poor as the rich tighten the screws

many poor are single parent families but not all single parent
families are poor. moreover, OTHER countries dont have this problem.
why?

because they have an economy that is more free, while providing
protection for the poor(eg sweden and denmark).

so he's pushing the right wing mythology that wall street protects the
middle class and the poor.

the problem is not the poor. it's the rich

america is becoming like mexico

Just as you were beginning to feel good about the new democratic/socialist
society, John comes along and ruins it for you. Bummer!

To anyone rational and caring, herring is nothing more than an object
for ridicule. The fool actually believes the right-wing bull**** he
spews here. I recall a few times when he "recommended" watching or
listening to Glenn Beck. If you pay attention to Glenn Beck and believe
his spew, you *are* retarded, and no further testing is required.

You ought to develop some standards for your behavior and allegiances. Don't
set them too high in the beginning or you will fail and fall back into your
cesspool of union politics.

Ahh, but I *do* have standards. That is why I am convinced most of the
righties here like you and herring and a few others are worth less than
a box of dirty kitty litter.

You are getting a lot of static and interference on your thinking box. Try
tightening the connections and see if you can see things a little clearer.
