as y'all know, i replaced a starter in my boat, started it from the upper helm station and promptly destroyed the starter. tim helped me understand the starter switch is probably staying engaged and keeping the bendix in the flywheel. We had a switch stick on our Turbocraft[hull number ten, of the first batch of jet boats ever sold in the US] once. It trashed the starter. Unfortunately the Graymarine six had the flywheel on the wrong end and starters were scarce. It had a crank nut on the front of the flywheel, so we went to a junkyard and got a crank. Casady |
