That kind of data isn't likely to come into play. The fact is, Bush was a
champagne fly boy and Clark was a four star general. Clark was and is a
leader, Bush is a schoolyard bully. Clark knows war and understands the
value of diplomacy and allies. Bush doesn't.

Not really. The guy is tight with the Clinton's since his days at Oxford
with Bill. He, of course, carries along a lot of the extra baggage they
do...but is not charasmatic or politically astute.

He'll get mauled by Bush in the pressing palms and kissing babies arena.

He may make a decent Vice Presidential candidate to lend credibility to
someone like dean who the public views as very weak on national security.
However, he's an ego-maniac and would never stand being second fiddle.

Unfortunately, it's the "swing" voters that vote this way. They make up
less than 7% of the electorate, and there's no common theme that appeals to
them. They vote for the guy they like best, many times basing their vote on
nothing more than charisma.

by Dean, who they regard as shrill -- nor Bush, who talks of compassion and

You are right on, jps.

None of the other Dems interest me -- they're just the usual bunch of
lifelong politicians. On the other hand, I like what Clark has to say, the
direct way he says his piece, and most importantly his values parallel mine.
I've been waiting for Clark to throw his hat in the ring for several months
now, and now on the eve of his announcement, I'm excited to learn more about
him.

Maybe he does have some baggage -- who doesn't? But he certainly has to be
better than dubya!
