With a BS in marine Bio she likes the salt marshes so that's a plus
but with skin that is so white she had melanoma at 17, I hope she does
not get it. She said that if you have a good boat thye will even pay
more and wanted to know if she could borrow my 20' Tolman Skiff. She
really is good at handling that boat. If BP would require their
personnel to wear a few clothes to minimize the UV risk, maybe.

Let her go. Hard work gets a great party. She will have fun. Maybe come
back married to the bf and make you a grandpa.

Or sterile.

Doubtful. Probably more harm in an office job. Toxic carpet, fat
accumulation, no fun...

Don't they have to wear hazmat suits or similar? That's what I see when
they're on TV on the beach collecting lumps.

There have been a handful of news reports indicating that a number of
BP spill cleanup workers are getting ill because of skin/air contact
with the oil and with the chemicals being used to try to mitigate it.
In addition to hazmat suits, breathing masks are also being
recommended. Considering what the temps are on the Gulf now that the
hot season is upon that area, well, wearing that gear must be miserable.

Also, why would a person with a b.s. in marine biology be scrounging
around for a crap job like oil spill cleanup, especially in Florida?
There are jobs aplenty in that state for marine biologists,
environmental engineers, et cetera, even summer jobs for those
pursuing master's degrees.

That's for sure.
Better those cleanup jobs go to pensioners who would love to be paid to
lounge on the Gulf beaches. Any footage I've seen, show those cleaning
guys operating in slow motion.
I could do that....wonder if they'd pay my way down?

I don't think you'd want the job...now, rounding up some pro-BP old
farts to get them to do the work...that would be a worthwhile venture.

The state of florida is hiring environmental engineering types...there
are weekly ads for such...I'd bet the qualifications might include
marine biology degrees. And I'll bet there will be a signficant number
of new openings created in the gulf area for those with the necessary
credentials.

Now that his business has gone to crap, our boy froggy could be hired as
either an anti-environmental engineer or as a lying spokesperson for BP.

Harry never allows reality to get in the way of his posts. So, here
is the breakdown of either marine biology or biology jobs in FL.

Monster.com -1 job requires 5+ yrs experience
Miami Herald zero jobs
Tallahassee Democrat Zero Jobs
St Pete Times zero jobs
Fl Times Union zero jobs

So harry, were are all these ads?

If I understood him correctly, 'Bama said the gulf region will be in better
shape than it was before the disaster. It must not be all that big a deal.

I hope he is held to that statement by the media. We'll see.

'bama flip flows too often to keep track.

Go he
https://www.employflorida.com/
click "Find A Job"
In the "Select New Area" drop down list select State.
Type biologist in keyword box.
Lots of jobs will pop up that your kid can probably get, some private
companies, some state or county and some U.S. Fish and Wildlife.
Push her to apply so you don't start forgetting what she's learned.
It's crazy for her to be picking up tarballs on the beach.

Jim - That's what I would do. Pick up tarballs and roll them around in
my fingers like boogers. But I'm native to upstate NY, not Florida.
And I ain't educated.

Makes sense. 0% interest in the banks, retired can't be in the mood to
spend.

Yeah, uh huh... toxic office over say 20 years vs. toxic oil/dispersant brew
over say 20 days. I pick #1.

You are AN IDIOT!

really? obama's created 1.5M jobs

EmployFlorida.com has zero, (0) state jobs for biologists and Harry
specifically said the state was advertising for Marine biologists.
Where did he see this (he did not, he made it up). However, the site
did have three possibilities, one in Bartow, Fl for someone who knows
how to operate a boat to do some sort of fish survey. I saw two other
possibilities, one a lab tech and I forget the other. Most of those
positions were for teachers requiring a teaching certificate, many
positions required an MS or PhD.
Now, Harry can either admit he made up the BS about all these ads for
Marine Biologists for the state or (more likely) we will all assume he
is full of crap.

The point was to find a job for your unemployable kid.
