off to put a new starter in the boat, and MAYBE even take it for a

Let's hope it's not the boat!

Thanks to TIM for his help...great guy and friend to boaters
everywhere...

good luck, Bob. I hope that unit does well for you too! It either will
match or it won't. After all, with 'stab-in-the-dark' info you got at
least a 5-/50 chance.

regardless. I hope you don't get rained out.

Have lotsa fun!

5-/50? I hope the odds are better than that.

SUCCESS!

Bob just called me and all went very well.

It was my pleasure, Bob.

yep! tim helped out ENORMOUSLY!! thanks very much...

unfortunately I made the mistake of starting the engine from the upper
helm station and promptly fried the new starter!

tim helped me diagnose the problem as a bad starter switch...and a new
starter is on the way...but next week i'll use ONLY the lower helm
station to start the engine

THANKS TIM!! a lifesaver!- Hide quoted text -

LOL! *cough*

Well, I wouldn't go THAT far, man. But ys I had a sinking feeling when
you said the new one was toast, but still. It proved where the problem
was coming from even for the origional. And no more than it really
cost, It's still cheaper than calling out a mechanic to find the
problem.

I'll get another coming monday, Bob.

If there's anything really good out of the situation, the product
proved it's self in the first round and even though it got wrecked,
you're still way money ahead.

Tim, what was the issue with the upper helm starter switch? *Sticking
in the closed position?

Yes Wayne. We came to the conclusion that all was fine untill Bob used
the upper key which for all purposes is exposed to the elements for
a long period of time. thus corroding up the inside tumblers. And way
up there it's hard to hear the starter screaming down below.
