NOW i need to replace all the cooling lines leading from the seacock to the engine, and the engine heater hose. the engine has a heat exchanger and is cooled with an anti-freeze/water mixture. so why type of hose should I use? is there a marine grade or can i use the regular heater hose used in cars? rubber is pretty impervious to salt water.... hope it's cheaper than the damn exhaust line! thanks all Somebody will probably differ with me, but I don't see any reason why you can't use automotive. Hoses last on cars for 200+ thousand miles in some of the worst under-the-hood conditions. My two GM powered boats are fresh water cooled and I use automotive. Even on an enclosed system like yours automotive should do fine as far as I can tell. Yes, automotive is fine in a marine application such as this. It's actually better, since it costs 1/2 as much. --Mike |
