Canadians lead longer, healthier lives than Americans

Compared to their neighbours south of the border, Canadians live longer,
healthier lives. Research published in BioMed Central's open access
journal Population Health Metrics has found this disparity between the
two countries, suggesting that America's lack of universal health care
and lower levels of social and economic equality are to blame.

Probably true but for the assumption it is health care.

Fewer Canadians can afford drugs, weed, booze and smokes.

any proof? what's the purchasing power parity of canada vs the US?
it's a simple measure. what is it?

Lower wages,
higher gasoline costs and higher taxes make us walk more.

again, where's the proof? the canadian dollar has appreciated 25%
against the US dollar because your govt regulated the free market and
ours didnt.

Canada has an appreciating dollar because of excess debt spending by the
USA. Plus they are a major energy exporter these days.

If we were having this conversation in a different context the left
would say it is because the Canadians don't have 100,000,000 (one for
each of BPs oppressed middle classers) guns.

Funny how the argument will change depending on the agenda.
I have already presented data that the uninsured really just die in a
rate of a couple more per 100,000, a statistical dead heat,
particularly when you take out the guns, drugs and lifestyle
differences.

i notice that those who have health insurance and say it's useless

never give it up. strange, isn't i?

Most of the US has health insurance. What is the cause now for the
differences.

Yep. Start with: http://www.fraserinstitute.org/tools/Default.htm

actually try he

http://fx.sauder.ubc.ca/PPP.html

for the latest info. your own universities show the US dollar is
undervalue by about 14%.

problem is, we already spend 17% of our GDP on health vs 10% for you
guys. so even if we reach parity you will STILL be spending less on
healthcare than we do for a system that is more efficient

try again, right winger.

On that web site somewhere they have a financial freedom list of all US
atates and Canadian provinces. Of the 10 Canadian provinces, we hold
the 9 bottom positions and the 10th province is much higher.

But I am not going to waste the time on you to find the exact link. You
probably wouldn't use it anyways.

financial freedom is irrelevant. the relevant measure is PPP.

what's funny about the right is that when they talk about 'socilalist'
changes to US healthcare, they preach our healthcare is PERFECT. it's
FREE MARKET. we have the BEST.

when it's shown this isnt true, then healthcare is USELESS. you dont
NEED IT...

propganda...not facts...is what the right preaches.

Given you have never traveled and lived elsewhere makes your opinion
kind of myopic and sheepish.

really?

when's the last time you were in korea? malaysia?

When they were discussing health care reform they stated 15-40 million
without insurance. 330 million or so in the US. Not a large percentage
without insurance. And if on welfare, society pays for their medical
care. Including rest homes.
